From December 23rd to 31st 2008, Beijing NGO has sent a delegation with four members to visit Japan and South Korea. The leader of the delegation is Xu Qiang, Vice Secretary General of Beijing NGO. Through inspecting the relevant NGOs in Japan and South Korea, the visit aimed to get a brief overview of the situation, development, operation and activities of and make more friends at the same time and seek the joint point of mutual benefits and win-win result. The delegation has made communication with 20 civil organizations in Japan and Sino-Korea Goodwill Association in South Korea, built initial relationship, broaden the channels of communication, enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship and laid a foundation for the further communication and cooperation between the Beijing NGO and Japan and South Korea.
During the stay in Tokyo, the delegation has visited the Sino-Japan Friendship Association of Tokyo, Japan International Labor Consortium, NPO Center, International Cooperation NGO Center, Environmental Organization Mount Fuji Club, Sino-Japan New Century Association, Asian Educational Support Association and other non-governmental organizations, introduced the nature, aim and activities of the association to them, know the relevant conditions of NGOs in Japan, discuss the willing, areas and ways of cooperation and connection and invited relevant persons to participate in some activities of Beijing NGO in 2009. In Hokkaido , except visiting Hokkaido Sino-Japan Friendship Association, the delegation also had panel discussions with the representatives from 7 selected civil organizations including Octaru City Social Welfare Council ,Youth Meetings , Tourism Association, Craftsmen Associations, Light Snow Road Committee , Hokkaido Green Forever Forest Project, Hokkaido Railway Cultural Protection Association and achieved good effects. Xu Qiang said that Beijing has more than 6,000 non-governmental organizations involved in many industries and the two sides have counties near to each other in geographical environment and can discuss the establishment of friendly relations and the civil organizations of two sides have many projects for further communication.
On December 29th, the delegation met with Li Shiji, the President of South Korea Goodwill Association, called "the Greatest Mr. China" by the Chinese magazine Global People. He once was a member of the Parliament, the Standing Consultant of South Korea Grand National Party and former executive of South Korea Hanawon, Minister of Sport and the Chairman of Seoul Olympic Games Special Committee, the Senior of South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and also an old friend of the Chinese people. He once studied Deng Xiaoping Theory for six months in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2001.
