Beijing Cuisine Association was established in 1984. The Association is the mass organization which crosses departments, trades and ownership and also a non-profit social organization with the corporate status. The members of the Association include the city-owned enterprises and institutions, factories, universities and colleges, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, cooks working in private restaurants, technicians, waiters, managers, theorists and dietitians. Since the foundation of the Association, it has carried out a series of activities. The Association always takes improving the quality of cooks and serving the industry as its working priority, and has trained more than 20 thousand cooking technology talents. It started to assess the cooks as “national treasure, grand-master, master and teacher” and more than 400 cooks have already won these titles. Every year the Association holds various competitions, including the first, second, third and fourth Beijing Cooking Contest, the Asian Chef Audition, Beijing Famous Dishes and Desserts Authentication, Beijing Halal Cooking Contest, Contest of Catering and Services for Beijing Olympic Bid, Top 100 Halal Restaurants in Beijing. The Association successively carries out a series of activities about academic and craft discussions and exchanges with cooks from other provinces all over the country and from United States, Great Britain, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea and these activities has made a profound impact to the culinary in Beijing and has promoted the development of cooking cause in Beijing.
