On May 10, the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO received a Gabon delegation who came to attend the seminar on diplomatic negotiation and protocol. The delegation was led by Fiacre Padoue Eboula Eyebe, Ambassador Director of Asian and Oceanian Affairs at Gabon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dai Jianjun, LevelII Inspector at the BPAFFC and Vice President of Beijing NGO, extended a warm welcome to the guests and explained in simple terms such buzzwords as the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and Chinese-style modernization, helping them get a better understanding of China and the CPC. Dai pointed out that friendly ties are a common wish of the Chinese and Gabonese people, quoting a Chinese saying – “Nothing, not even mountains and oceans, can separate people with shared goals and vision.” He said that the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO hope to take the opportunity to strengthen communication and cooperation with relevant organizations in Gabon and promote exchanges and mutual learning featuring inclusiveness and harmony without uniformity. He hoped that diplomats could learn more about China, tell the stories of a real China in their own language, and support friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between organizations in the two countries.
Fiacre Padoue Eboula Eyebe spent eight years studying in Beijing and have a great affection for China. He said that he was thrilled to return to China after years and bring more Gabonese people to the booming country. Noting the sincere friendship between the countries over the decades, he looked optimistically to more fruitful exchanges and cooperation in the future.
Several participants shared their views, including the Foreign Affairs Advisor to Director-general for International Cooperation of Gabon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs Advisor to Gabon’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, and Foreign Affairs Advisor to Gabon’s Minister of Mining. “There is an old saying in Gabon, ‘Friends that get on well would not go to war.’ China and Gabon have always supported each other and continuously deepened political mutual trust. We hope our legendary friendship will last forever,” said a participant. His words were echoed by other participants, who said that this visit left them a deep impression and allowed them to see an ever-growing China. They also welcomed more Chinese people to learn about the young, open, and friendship country of Gabon.
The participants looked forward to strengthening practical cooperation with Beijing NGO in more areas. Zheng Shunmei, head of the Beijing NGO Secretariat, introduced the achievements Beijing NGO has made in people-to-people bond within the Belt and Road framework. Noting that 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, she said that Beijing NGO is willing to strengthen cooperation with NGOs in Gabon and encourages its member organizations to forge partnerships with organizations in Gabon through the Silk Road Community Building Initiative, so as to fully tap the potential of cooperation in the field of civic services and promote the implementation of cooperative projects in agriculture, culture, sports, youth, and other areas.
“Friends get closer through interaction,” said Dai Jianjun genuinely, “We invite you to visit China more frequently and together carry forward our friendship toward a better future.”
The seminar is a foreign aid program organized by Beijing International Chinese Collage, a member of Beijing NGO. It is the sixth class received by the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO following the diplomats and protocol officials from Ghana, Chad, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and seven developing countries. Later on, the participants visited the office area of Beijing NGO and seasoned their admiration for the quaint quadrangle courtyard. They expressed great interest in the history and culture of China and Beijing and looked forward to having more opportunities to explore the country.
