On September 12, 2023, Yukari Tsuru, executive director of the NPO BELLPO-KAI Social Training Association, led a delegation to Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC) and the Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges (Beijing NGO) to discuss matters of exchanges and cooperation.
Jiao Yutong, vice president of the BPAFFC and leader of Beijing NGO, welcomed Ms. Yukari Tsuru and her delegation. This was her second visit to Beijing in four years. For a long time, NPO BELLPO-KAI Social Training Association has been dedicated to social welfare, actively promoting non-governmental cooperation with China in education, culture, environmental protection and other aspects. Mr. Jiao appreciated their long-term contribution to promoting friendly exchanges between China and Japan, and looked forward to further exchanges and cooperation in economic, women, youth, community and other fields. He hoped that the young Japanese visitors would tell their Japanese friends what they had seen, heard, and felt in China after returning to Japan, serve as messengers of non-governmental friendship between China and Japan, and build a bridge of friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Japanese peoples.
Ms. Yukari Tsuru thanked the Beijing NGO for its hospitality. Adhering to their founding mission, NPO BELLPO-KAI Social Training Association actively leads its members and volunteers to exchange and cooperate with countries around the world, especially China. It has been four years since her last visit to China, and she felt that China had changed a lot. In particular, she was invited by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China to join youth representatives from more than 20 countries in the 2023 Beijing International Sister Cities Youth Camp. She paid visits to the Smart China Expo 2023 and innovative technology enterprises such as Changan Technology, Sina Weibo, and Xiaomi. She also took the high-speed train, and was impressed by China’s innovation, scientific and technological advancement and speed while enhancing exchanges and communication with young people from all over the world. This was the first time for the youngsters on her delegation to come to China, and they experienced a different China firsthand. They were especially amazed by China’s technological innovation. She hoped that this visit would broaden the thinking of Japanese youth, make them more globally minded, and that the two sides will jointly hold more high-quality exchange activities next year.
