Since the beginning of modern times, the growing international women’s movement has been strengthened by four global United Nations women’s conferences, and hot topics such as gender equality, protection of women’s rights and interests, and girls’ right to education have drawn growing attention.
The International Women’s Day 2023 on March 8 coincides with the 52nd regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. As one of the first Beijing-based civil society organizations to enjoy consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges will deliver a pre-recorded video speech in cooperation with Beijing Women’s Federation, a member organization, and will attend the session on March 17, local time in Geneva.
In the speech Ms. Li Yue, under the recommendation of Beijing Women’s Federation, will talk about two hot topics – the environment and women’s rights, and brief on what Beijing has been doing to protect women’s right to development and promote women’s engagement in global environmental governance and other initiatives. Below is the video of her speech.
