On August 4, the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO received a 40-person delegation who came to attend the Seminar on Chinese Language &Culture for Diplomatic Officials from Developing Countries. The participants were from government agencies and research institutes of 14 countries across Asia, Africa, South America, and North America, including Uzbekistan, Morocco, Venezuela, and Guyana. The seminar is a foreign aid program organized by Beijing International Chinese Collage, a member of Beijing NGO. It is the ninth diplomacy and protocol class for developing countries received by the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO.
Vice President Jiao Yutong gave a warm welcome to the guests. He introduced the basic situation of the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO, answered their questions about China’s achievements in development, the situation of high-quality socioeconomic development in Beijing, the flagship people-to-people diplomacy activities of the BPAFFC, etc., and had lively exchanges with the guests. He said that China values the relations with other developing countries and regards developing countries as the cornerstone of its diplomacy, and a fast-growing China will make greater contributions to the wellbeing of developing countries. Noting the few exchanges with organizations in some developing countries, he hoped to take the opportunity to strengthen cooperation in culture, sports, education, economy and trade, and other areas.
The delegation was led by Sizaltina Rodrigues Goncalves, Counsellor of the Asian Department of Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She thanked the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO for providing this valuable opportunity. Chinese culture stands out among the world’s cultures. Although language barriers may hinder communication, language can serve as a bridge for communication between our countries and China when we have a deep understanding of each other’s culture. We hope that our countries could strengthen cooperation with China and Beijing, she said.
Mohammed, a Moroccan diplomat, commented, “This event brings developing countries together to communicate with each other, enabling us to get a deeper understanding of the high-quality development of China and Beijing. ”
Angela, a South Sudan diplomat, said, “I’m truly amazed at the quaint architecture of the BPAFFC. Like China, South Sudan is a multi-ethnic country with diverse cultures and traditions. I look forward to the opportunity to communicate with relevant organizations and businesses in Beijing and learn how Beijing can pursue high-quality development while preserving traditional Chinese culture. ”
“You are all the backbone of your countries in diplomacy, economy, education, or other fields. I am impressed by your ambition and enthusiasm to devote yourself to the development of your motherland,” said Jiao Yutong sincerely. “Ten years ago, in March 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the vision of building a human community with a shared future, providing Chinese solutions to dealing with global challenges and creating a better future for humanity. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress held last year expounds on Chinese-style modernization, presenting a different picture of modernization from Western modernization and offering a new option to developing countries seeking prosperity. I believe that your countries will also find a path suited to your own national conditions to fully unleash your potential and accomplish significant achievements. I hope that you could take this opportunity to learn more about the real China, observe China’s development with your own eyes, and tell China’s changes in your own language. Let’s work together to strengthen our friendship and bring it forward.”
Yang Wei, Vice President of Beijing International Chinese Collage, also attended the event.
